Here's how Missouri ranked in new affordablity survey

The Ozarks continues to rank as one of the most affordable regions in the country, according to a new report from the Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC).

In its latest cost-of-living survey, Missouri was ranked as the fourth most affordable state in the U.S. Arkansas followed closely behind, securing a respectable 11th place.

The report found that Missouri's overall cost of living is approximately 12% below the national average. The ranking is based on six key categories: housing, groceries, utilities, transportation, health care, and other goods and services.

Housing costs in Missouri stood out in particular, with the state recognized as one of the most affordable places in the nation to rent or purchase a home. While housing remains a strong point, grocery and utility expenses were slightly closer to the national average.

Only Oklahoma, Mississippi, and Alabama ranked higher than Missouri in terms of overall affordability.

In contrast, Hawaii, Massachusetts, and California were identified as the most expensive states to live in.
