MORGAN COUNTY, Mo. - A Florissant man drowned Saturday morning in the Lake of the Ozarks after his kayak overturned, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
An MSHP drowning report states that the victim, a 50-year-old man, drowned around 10:15 a.m. Saturday in the Lake of the Ozarks.
A diving team recovered the victim near Possum Hollow Cove at the .3 mile marker of the lake's Gravois arm in Morgan County, according to the MSHP report.
Investigators say the victim was on a kayak that overturned and did not resurface before divers responded to the scene. The Morgan County Coroner pronounced the victim deceased.
MSHP did not disclose the victim's identity, but says next of kin have been notified.
MSHP Troop F, which covers several counties in central Missouri, is investigating the drowning. Three drowning deaths have been reported in Troop F's jurisdiction this year, according to MSHP.
