Arkansas’ metro areas saw job growth in October, with all eight regions experiencing gains, according to Talk Business.
FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Arkansas’ metro areas saw job growth in October, with all eight regions experiencing gains, according to Talk Business.
Five of these areas also saw year-over-year declines in unemployment. Northwest Arkansas led with the lowest jobless rate at 2.1%, while Pine Bluff and Memphis/West Memphis had the highest at 4.3%.
According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the state’s four largest metro areas accounted for 80.1% of Arkansas’ 32,806 job gains in October, with a combined total of 26,286. Arkansas’ overall jobless rate was 3.3% for the month.
Northwest Arkansas, the second-largest metro area, also saw a 3.4% increase, with 10,274 new jobs. The Fort Smith metro added 2,021 jobs (1.7% increase), and the Jonesboro metro saw a 3% growth, adding 1,779 jobs.
