LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — Patients in Arkansas spent $24 million on medical marijuana in November, bringing the total for the year to more than $250 million.
Scott Hardin, a spokesperson for the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration, said medical marijuana sales with a month of reporting left had reached $251.9 million, around $6 million less than the same time frame in 2023.
Patients have bought 68,877 pounds in 2024 at the state’s 37 dispensaries.
Hardin said despite the overall spending being down, the amount of pounds purchased significantly increased, indicating lower prices.
"The two state taxes on medical marijuana have generated $28.5 million in 2024, with the overall amount since the industry launched now approaching $150 million," Hardin said. "The number of medical marijuana patient cards continues to increase. We began the year with 97,374 cards and the Department of Health now reports 109,095 active cards."
Suite 443 in Hot Springs sold the most medical marijuana in November with patients purchasing more than 746 pounds.
In all, 6,759 pounds were sold in November.
