ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis Blues officially acquired veteran defenseman Cam Fowler from the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday morning.
Fowler joins the Blues in exchange for prospect Jeremie Biakabutuka and a second-round pick in 2027. The Blues also acquired a fourth-round 2027 pick from the Ducks in the deal.
Fowler has spent 15 seasons with the Anaheim Ducks, nearing the elusive 1,000-game milestone and serving as Anaheim's alternate captain over the last five seasons.
Fowler has collected 457 points (96 goals, 361 assists) over his lengthy run with the Ducks. He currently ranks 17th among active defensemen in career games played (991) and 16th in points.
The trade gives the Blues a little more stability on the left side of their defensive core. It also suggests that veteran defenseman Nick Leddy, placed on the injured reserve list early into the 2024-25 season, might be dealing with a longer-term setback than previously anticipated.
It's unclear if Fowler will be available for either Saturday's road game against the Dallas Stars or Sunday's home game against the New York Rangers, but he is expected to join the lineup soon.
Fowler has this season and one more remaining on an eight-year deal inherited from Anaheim. The Ducks will pay around 40% of his remaining salary.
