JOPLIN, Mo. — Once again, employees at a longtime Joplin company have made a difference this holiday season.
CFI employees have donated thousands of dollars to benefit Joplin-area charities and nonprofits.
All part of the company's annual Truckloads of Treasures holiday giving campaign.
More than $17,000 was raised this year, and handed out today to Camp Quality, Children's Haven, the Area Agency on Aging, the Ronald McDonald House, the Salvation Army, the Boys and Girls Club, the Joplin Humane Society, and the DAV Chapter 52.
"I think it's amazing. I think it shows part of the CFI employee spirit. It's busy here. This is the busy time of the year. We're trying to get everything delivered for everybody where it needs to be -- and do it safely. And then, with focus on that, we peel away and we do this. But it, it's expected. We do it. We wouldn't do anything less than this," said Brett Schwab, CFI director of safety.
"CFI - I can't thank enough for this financial support. It comes at a time when we have increased demand for our services, and funding is scarce. With this donation, we're gonna get extra groceries out to 275 people in Joplin," said Jennifer Shotwell, Area Agency on Aging Region X CEO.
That will be over the next month - maybe more.
The other organizations also have a plan for the money they receive today.
CFI's Truckload of Treasures campaign has happened every year since 1993.
