ST. LOUIS – A murder suspect will make his first appearance in St. Louis Circuit Court Thursday afternoon for a fatal shooting last month in the city’s Princeton Heights neighborhood.

According to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s probable cause statement, the shooting happened on Monday, Nov. 25, in the 4900 block of Bonita Avenue. Our news partners at the St. Louis Post-Dispatch identified the victim as Antonio Watson, 35, of Maplewood.

Police said Torey Paige, 30, was riding in a car with three people, one of whom he was dating.

During the ride, Watson called one of the people in the car and was upset to learn they were in the vehicle with Paige. Watson allegedly yelled at this person and threatened to hurt everyone in the car before hanging up. The person who was on the phone with Watson relayed their conversation to everyone else in the car.

At one point, police said Paige got out of the vehicle a block away from his significant other's residence. A short time later, everyone still in the car heard gunshots and Paige's significant other saw muzzle flashes from her front yard.

Police said Paige appeared a short time later and got picked up by the others in his group. Paige allegedly confessed to shooting Watson and instructed everyone in the car to tell police he was not with them. He threatened to kill them if they snitched to the police.

Paige got rid of the murder weapon the following day, police said. He was eventually arrested.

The St. Louis Circuit Attorney’s Office charged Paige with first-degree murder and armed criminal action. Paige remains jailed without bond.
