Chicopee now requires license for solicitors to go door-to-door

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Officials in Chicopee are working to protect residents from door-to-door schemes.

Police say the City Council has approved new regulations that will stop fake solicitors from knocking on residents' doors. Now, anyone who wants to go door to door must get a license from the police, making sure they're qualified.

Plus, anyone 15 or older must submit to a criminal background check before getting that license. And now, all door-to-door solicitors are under a time limit. They can only come up to your door between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m.

If someone comes up to your door and it seems suspicious, you can ask to see their license and have some peace of mind.
