Heavy rain and flooding risk in western Massachusetts

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - Another heavy rain event is on the way in western Massachusetts, with a Flood Watch in effect from 5 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.

Thursday will be a mostly dry day and partly cloudy with the chance for showers or even a thunderstorm in the evening. High temperatures will be in the low 70s. Rain Thursday night with some patchy fog, lows in the upper 40s and low 50s.

Rainfall Forecast

Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible from Thursday night through Saturday morning. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.

Moderate to heavy rains are expected Friday morning through Saturday morning with 2-3 inches of rain possible.
