JOPLIN, Mo. — The construction of a new building at Missouri Southern is starting to take shape.
It's the future home of the "Roy Blunt Health Science Innovation Center."
Right now, the work is focusing on elevator shafts and stairwell towers.
Three are in progress, with plans calling for three more in the coming weeks.
After that, crews will be able to focus on the structural steel.
"If you look at it from above, you can see the outline of the building. Utilities are beginning to go in and so we are quickly approaching the point where the building will take visual shape for the campus," said Dr. Brad Hodson, MSSU Exec. Vice Pres.
Ground was broken on the project in April.
It's expected to open for classes in 2026.
