NEOSHO, Mo. — Freeman Health System has something new in the works in Neosho.
Officials broke ground this morning on the land where a physical therapy building will be built.
It sits behind Freeman Neosho Hospital.
The 8,300 square-foot facility will house physical, occupational and speech therapy departments, and will feature state-of-the-art technology, which will include an aquatic therapy pool, strength training equipment, five private treatment rooms, and a large gymnasium.
"This is something that the Neosho community has needed for a very long time. And we are thrilled to be able to bring this service to our community. Our patients often have great difficulty traveling distances to receive the therapies that they need," said Renee Denton, Freeman Neosho Hospital COO.
"The population, as you probably know, is aging. And as we age, unfortunately, we start coming apart. And what happens with physical therapy is they help put us back together again. So, the need is a continuing one," said Rudolph Farber, Freeman Neosho Hospital Board Chair.
Construction will begin next week.
The plan is to have the facility finished and ready for patients by September.
