GROVE, Okla. – The Grand Lake Family YMCA, a branch of the Tri-State Family YMCA, invites the community to the ribbon cutting ceremony and grand opening of its new gymnasium on Thursday, December 19, at 1:00 pm. This event celebrates the collaboration and generosity of local leaders, donors, and supporters who made this facility a reality.
The new 9,000 sq. ft. gymnasium will serve as a cornerstone for health, wellness, and recreation in Grove. Designed to meet the needs of all ages, the facility will provide a space for sports, fitness programs, and community activities for children, youth, adults, and seniors alike.
“This gym is a testament to what we can achieve when we come together,” said Adrian Arnold, Tri-State Family YMCA Assistant Executive Director. “It’s more than a building—it’s a symbol of our shared commitment to building a healthier, stronger community.”
The gymnasium is named in honor of Bill Skea and Joan Vermaire, whose vision brought the YMCA to Grove in 2002. The Grand Lake Family YMCA also extends its gratitude to the City of Grove and the many donors, supporters, and volunteers whose contributions made this facility possible. Special thanks go to the City of Grove for their unwavering support of this project.
“This project is a shining example of the power of community,” said Benjamin Coffey, Tri-State Family YMCA Chief Executive Officer. “This new gymnasium is the latest step in fulfilling our Y’s mission to improve the health and well-being of the Grove community, and it’s a great source of pride for everyone involved.”
Following the ribbon-cutting ceremony, attendees are invited to take a self-guided tour of the new facility. YMCA staff will be available throughout the gymnasium to answer questions and provide insights into the programs and opportunities this space will offer. Guests are also encouraged to visit the updated KidZone inside the current facility, showcasing yet another way the YMCA is enhancing services for families.
