Grassroots to greatness: Hispanic Networking Group of the Ozarks

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. - The Hispanic Networking Group of the Ozarks connects with others of Hispanic lineage with their community in Springfield and helps each other succeed, according to the website.

"My teammate from my real estate group, her name is Angelica, she started (the group) because she mentioned that there was no networking group that focuses on the Hispanic professionals," said president Gaby Verdugo.

She says the Hispanic Networking Group of the Ozarks then grew from a club to a nonprofit.

"I decided to convert it into a nonprofit organization so we can actually raise money," Verdugo said. "And donate the money back to all nonprofit organizations that are helping the Hispanic community in some sort of way."

"We are very inclusive, like you don't have to be a Hispanic professional in order to be part of our team," Verdugo said. "You can be anybody who's willing to help the Hispanic community in some sort of way."
