Ozark HS to change bathroom policy after social media trend
Ozark High School has closed all men's restrooms except for one in response to a social media trend of students urinating in public places, and is asking for parents' help to put an end to the behavior.

OZARK, Mo. — An email sent out to students and families at Ozark High School (OHS) outlines changes to the school's bathroom policy moving forward.
The email, sent out Sunday, says beginning immediately, "all men's restrooms at the main campus will be closed except for the restroom located in the commons area".
The move is in response to a growing social media trend where people anonymously post videos of themselves urinating in a litany of places, all public, but not in a traditional restroom.
"This decision comes in response to an inappropriate social media trend that has unfortunately reached our school and others across the country. Recently, some students have been participating in or sharing videos of themselves urinating on surfaces instead of using the restrooms properly. This behavior is unsanitary, disrespectful, and does not reflect the values of our school community," the email from Dr. Phillip Witt, OHS principal, said.
There's no timetable for when all the restrooms will be reopened, but the email calls on parents to have discussion with students about proper sanitary practices.
"We want to maintain a safe and clean environment for all students and staff. We are asking for your support as parents and students to help put an end to this behavior. Please take time to discuss the seriousness of this issue at home. Choices like these not only damage school property but also affect the learning environment and the reputation of Ozark High School. We know that the vast majority of our students act responsibly and respectfully every day. It is disappointing that the actions of a few have caused this inconvenience. We are confident that, with our community’s support, we can address this issue quickly and restore full restroom access," Witt's email continues.
OzarksFirst has plans to speak to Witt about the issue on Tuesday morning and will update this story.
