JOPLIN, Mo. — The City of Joplin is letting residents know how to properly dispose of natural Christmas trees at three local drop-off locations.
In a release Monday officials said residents can expect the Christmas tree drop-off locations to open December 26 through January 31. At these spots, citizens are encouraged to bring their unwanted, natural (live) trees for disposal. Trees should be stripped of all ornaments and decorations before dropping them off.
The three locations to drop off your live Christmas trees in Joplin are:
- Humphrey Park on Utica Street in the Royal Heights area
- McIndoe Park at Glendale Road and Jackson Avenue – place trees in southwest corner of parking lot
- Public Works Center at 1301 West 2nd Street.
The Joplin Recycling Center will accept many unwanted Christmas decorations this season such as gift wrapping (no metallic paper), paper boxes, bottles, cans, greeting cards, cooking oil, and even discarded Christmas lights. The Center is open Tuesday and Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. and Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
