JOPLIN, Mo. — Mammography services at Freeman Health System's Joplin Women's Pavilion have been temporarily suspended.
Those temporary suspension began last month.
The American College of Radiology says it was concerned about the quality of the mammography services done at the health system's Joplin location — between the dates of September 2022 through November 2024.
The ACR says, during that time — some of the images failed to meet its quality standards as required by the Food and Drug Administration.
Freeman says, in the interim — patients can still get mammography services at its Neosho Women's Pavilion.
In a statement to us, Freeman says, “We have already started revitalizing our protocols, enhancing staff training, and working closely with the manufacturers of our 3D mammography units to calibrate our equipment."
