ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. – A Jefferson County woman is accused of embezzling tens of thousands of dollars from her employer in the summer of 2023.
According to the St. Louis County Police Department’s probable cause statement, Karen B. Norris worked as the office manager for a contractor based in Jefferson County.
Police said over a two-week period in June 2023, Norris made four unauthorized withdrawals from the company’s account at Montgomery Bank in Valley Park.
The total value of the four withdrawals was $25,500, police said. One of the withdrawals was for $11,000, which triggered a federal bank reporting requirement.
Bank officials contacted the contractor and discovered Norris did not have permission to make any of the withdrawals, which were recorded on surveillance video.
The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office charged Norris with stealing – $25,000 or more. She was issued a criminal summons to appear in court on Jan. 13, 2025.
