JOPLIN, Mo. — Volunteers honored veterans buried at one of Jasper County's oldest cemeteries this morning.
American Legion Post 13 helped the Peace Church Cemetery Association place wreaths on veterans' graves this morning.
A total of 25 wreaths were placed by veterans for veterans.
24 of those went on the graves of veterans from the Civil, Spanish-American, and Korean wars - as well as both World Wars.
The 25th wreath honored un-named veterans.
"If not for the veterans we wouldn't have the freedoms that we have today so I think it's very important to honor those who have sacrificed and those who are serving today," said Jim Beeler, Peace Cemetery caretaker.
Veterans are honored at Peace Church Cemetery three times a year.
The next ceremony will take place on Memorial Day, and is open to the public.
