Phelps County deputies arrest two people connected to 2023 infant death
Deputies with the Phelps County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) arrested 25-year-old Caleb Gorman of Salem on Tuesday who is accused in the death of his infant daughter in March 2023.
UPDATE 9:05 PM - Phelps County deputies have arrested a second person accused in the death of a 14-month-old girl after arresting the infant's father earlier Tuesday.
According to the Phelps County Sheriff's Department (PCSD), 24-year-old Corissa Botkin of Rolla was arrested in connection to the death of her infant daughter from fentanyl poisoning in March 2023.
Botkin was charged with abuse or neglect of a child -- resulting in death, the same charge that was given to the infant's father, 25-year-old Caleb Gorman.
Botkin is now being held in Phelps County Jail without bond.

PHELPS COUNTY, Mo. -- Deputies with the Phelps County Sheriff's Department (PCSD) arrested 25-year-old Caleb Gorman of Salem on Tuesday who is accused in the death of his infant daughter in March 2023.
The Phelps County Prosecuting Attorney charged Gorman with one felony count of abuse or neglect of a child -- resulting in death.
According to PCSD, they conducted an investigation into Gorman's 14-month-old daughter's death with the Phelps County Coroner and found that the girl died from fentanyl poisoning. The PCSD and Phelps County Coroner are investigating the circumstances of the incident and ask for anyone with information about the case to report it to the authorities.
"This is an incredibly heartbreaking situation," said Phelps County Sheriff Michael Kirn in a news release. "Our primary concern is for the well-being of children in our community, and we will do everything in our power to ensure that justice is served in this case."
Gorman is currently being held in Phelps County Jail with no bond.
