Police catch men attempting to steal 6-foot-tall utility transformer
Two men are facing felony charges following their attempt to steal a utility transformer in north St. Louis Monday.
ST. LOUIS - Two men are facing felony charges following their attempt to steal a utility transformer in north St. Louis Monday.
Police were called to the area of Bremen Avenue and North 23rd Street for reports regarding the destruction of property.
Upon their arrival, they caught Joshua Huston and Justin Bunch, both 39 years old, moving a 6-foot-tall utility transformer onto their trailer, securing it with chains and ratchet straps. While looking into their vehicle, police found a sawzall sitting on the passenger floorboard in addition to several other power tools.
A nearby resident told officers that he saw three men near the light pole where the transformer was attached and proceeded to watch them climb up a ladder using their power tools to damage it.
Both Bunch and Huston are facing felony charges of attempted stealing of $750 or more as well as first-degree property damage.
