Springfield author pens Chappell Roan comic book

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A man from Springfield — which is just 20 minutes from Willard, the hometown of global popstar Chappell Roan — has authored a comic book exploring the rising star’s transformation from small-town performer to a household name. 

Authored by Michael Frizell and illustrated by Lucy Fidelis, “FAME: Chappell Roan” is a 22-page comic book biography that chronicles Roan’s rise in the music industry, ranging from her early performances to her acclaimed debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess. 

Roan’s growing influence as a lesbian icon and fashion-forward performer is also touched upon in the comic book. 

"Writing Fame: Chappell Roan was a creative thrill," Frizell said in a news release. "Her story is one of bravery, transformation and artistic risk. She’s rewriting what pop stardom looks like, and I hope readers are as inspired by her journey as I was while crafting it.”

The "FAME" comic book series, featured in Rolling Stone, Time, and People magazines, has highlighted musical legends like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Lady Gaga, Lil Nas X, Drake, Selena Gomez and more.
