SPRINGFIELD, Mo. -- The Springfield City Council has introduced a resolution appointing Deputy City Manager Collin Quigley as the interim city manager that will be voted on at its next meeting on Dec. 16.
Current City Manager Jason Gage announced he would be resigning from his position on Jan. 11, 2025, saying that he felt it was time to move on.
Quigley, a Springfield native, has served as deputy city manager since 2018 after being promoted from assistant city manager, directing and supervising departments such as Emergency Communications, Fire, Police, Finance, Health and more. He has also served as City Manager of Ozark and Kimberling City and has a bachelor's degree and master's degree in public administration from Evangel and Kansas respectively.
Quigley has agreed to serve as interim city manager starting Jan. 12, 2025, but will not be a candidate for the permanent position.
“Collin will provide steady leadership as we continue the search for a full-time City Manager to succeed Jason Gage. He is a highly qualified professional who knows City operations well and is totally committed to our community,” said Mayor Ken McClure in a press release. “His years of dedicated service are a testament to his conscientiousness.”
City Council is currently conducting a nationwide search for the next permanent city manager. The City says it expects the vacancy to be posted in early January and will do an initial screening of candidates in February and March.
