Springfield Contemporary Theatre closes 'for the foreseeable future'
Springfield Contemporary Theatre has paused operations due to ongoing challenges, but it is not a permanent goodbye, and the theatre is pausing to regroup and make space for what might be possible in the future.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Board of Directors of Springfield Contemporary Theatre has announced the decision to pause operations.
In a Facebook post, the reasoning behind the closing is due to "ongoing challenges that have made it increasingly difficult to sustain operations."
After nearly 30 years of producing bold, community-driven theatre, Springfield Contemporary Theatre is pausing operations for the foreseeable future.
This is not a permanent goodbye. But it is a necessary pause. The challenges of recent years have made it difficult to sustain our work, and we are stepping back to reflect, regroup, and make space for what might be possible in the future.
To everyone who has been part of this journey, thank you. We are deeply proud of what we built together. Springfieldcontemporarytheatre.org
