Springfield man sentenced to 95 months for illegal firearm
Michael G. Caldwell, 37, was sentenced to 95 months in federal prison for possession of an illegal firearm, which was linked to a shooting in Springfield a week earlier.

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A Springfield man was sentenced today in federal court for possession of an illegal firearm.
According to a press release by the Department of Justice, Michael G. Caldwell, 37, was sentenced to 95 months in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
On Apr. 2, 2024, officers from the Springfield Police Department (SPD) conducted a traffic stop on Caldwell. Officers observed him making strange movements and reaching near the center console of the vehicle.
Although Caldwell resisted arrest, SPD was able to detain him.
Investigators searched the vehicle and found a Ruger pistol between the center console and the passenger seat and $1,610 in cash.
The pistol linked Caldwell to a shooting that occurred in Springfield a week earlier via shell casings found in that case.
