WELDON SPRING, Mo. - Jennifer Davis was working Friday when she received an unexpected message from a stranger. He said her 17-year-old daughter had been in a crash. Davis was told she should come to the scene, and the stranger did not go into any details.
“He’s probably a parent and knew if he told me exactly what happened, that maybe I wouldn’t have driven as safe as I did,” Davis said.
When Davis arrived near Interstate 64 and Highway 94 on Friday, she saw her daughter’s SUV upside down with shattered glass.
“There’s no way she should have lived and survived that accident,” she said.
The teen suffered non-life-threatening injuries and emotional trauma. A crash report from the Missouri State Highway Patrol indicates another vehicle failed to yield and made an unsafe lane change into the path of the teen’s SUV.
Davis believes a guardian angel was watching over her daughter. She said, “Her grandfather passed away when she was an infant, and she said, 'I think it was grandpa.'”
There was also help from a living angel. The stranger who notified Davis about the crash also stopped to help the teen.
“When her car was overturned, nobody was stopping,” Davis said. “He saw her, turned around, and pulled her out of the car.”
Witnesses told Davis her daughter’s Kia Seltos flipped four times. The teen was buckled, and there were no other passengers.
“Hug your loved ones,” Davis said. “Just appreciate the tiny moments with them.”
She also hopes this close call reminds drivers to pay attention.
“Just slow down,” she said. “Somebody’s life could be on the line.”
