KANSAS — A St. Louis man reaches a plea deal in connection to a 2023 murder in Montgomery County, Kansas.
Early this afternoon, prosecutors amended the charges against Kevin Martin, 24, from first-degree murder and aggravated robbery, to second-degree murder. Those charges are in connection to the October 2023 shooting death of Jason York in Independence, Kansas. Martin pleaded no contest to the second degree murder charge.
Police found York dead from gunshot wounds inside his home. Martin is one of five men arrested in connection to the case. The others are still going through the court process.
