(WHTM) - Stanley has issued a significant recall involving more than 2 million mugs.
According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission, Stanley is recalling about 2.6 million Switchback and Trigger Action travel mugs due to a burn hazard.
The CPSC says heat exposure and torque can cause the threads of the mug lid to shrink, causing it to detach while in use. The affected mugs were sold from June 2016 through December 2024 in stores and online by such retailers as Amazon, Walmart, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Target.
So far, there have been 91 reports worldwide of lids detaching resulting in 38 burns, with 11 needing medical attention.
The stainless steel travel mugs were sold in a variety of colors, including white, black and green, in 12-, 16- and 20-ounce sizes with a polypropylene lid.
Name Size Product Identification Number Switchback 12 ounces 20-01437 16 ounces 20-01436, 20-02211 Trigger Action 12 ounces 20-02033, 20-02779, 20-02825 16 ounces 20-02030, 20-02745, 20-02957 20 ounces 20-02034, 20-02746
