CARTHAGE, Mo. — An end-of-the-semester holiday tradition continues this week in Carthage.
The voices were pure this morning at Fairview Christian Church. This was part of the school district's annual Christmas Community Sing-a-long. Today's performance featured kindergarten through third-grade students from Steadley Elementary. A lot of work has gone into this over the past couple of months, providing a treat for family members and others in the community—a treat for the kids as well.
"My favorite part about the day was probably that my family dressed up and it was really funny," said Quinn Housh, a Steadley Elementary third-grade student.
"Traditions are hard to come by, and the opportunity to bring in the community with the school—it's so important. It's a great lesson for the kids to see that they're bringing joy to not only parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, but also community members," said Dr. Lisa Northup, Steadley Elementary principal.
"My favorite part about the holiday is pretty much seeing everybody's reaction to what I get them—or even my reaction. I like my reaction, too," said Housh.
This is something the district does every year with all its elementary schools—all of which have been or are putting on performances this week.
