Well, I have some good and bad news for the forecast this week. Let's start with the positive.
Temperatures will stay mild. High temps are expected to climb into the 50s most of the week. Additionally, we will be getting a break from the freezing cold as overnight lows should easily avoid freezing.
Ready for the bad? With warmer weather forecast we won't have any chance of a White Christmas this year. Rather the pattern is looking very cloudy and soggy for this week.
Cloud cover starts to build overnight tonight and will dominate the skies for several days. Monday kicks off with grey skies with morning temperatures in the 40s. We will warm up to a high in the low 50s.
Additionally, rain is expected to return tomorrow. Sprinkles or a light shower will be possible to start the day, however, the bulk of precip will be arriving late on Monday night.
Steady rainfall will occur Monday night into the majority of Christmas Eve. This is especially true for regions further to the south. The heaviest totals will occur along the AR and MO border. Rainfall will be rather light for people north of I-44.
Rainfall will be wrapped up early on Christmas morning with the cloud cover staying put. Temperatures will be in the 50s for Xmas day with mostly cloudy skies.
After the 25th, we will be under the gun of another chance of rain Thursday evening into Friday morning. The mild pattern will be here to stay until colder weather will start to dominate around the start of the New Year.
