Rainfall yesterday morning topped 4" in Wright County with 3"+ readings common all along Highway 60. Springfield officially measured 1.13" of rainfall at the airport with other parts of town seeing nearer 2".
Today will begin cold and clear in the low 30s. Be prepared to deal with a frosty windshield this morning! Temperatures will warm to the mid-50s this afternoon and skies will gradually become mostly cloudy later today as moisture tries to return to the area ahead of another cold front tonight.
Tonight's cold front won't bring much rainfall but overnight stray showers are possible mainly east of Highway 65, especially across northern Arkansas where some spots could see a half inch or more.
We're done with the rain for a while after Tuesday night and temperatures will get colder. It looks like we're in for another roller coaster ride with a cold Wednesday giving way to milder weather Thursday before a more extended period of cold through the weekend.
The pipeline of cold air will once again shut down approaching Christmas with milder weather through the Christmas holiday. There will also be another storm just ahead of Christmas, likely soaking the area just ahead of Santa's big ride.
