DOUGLAS COUNTY, Mo. — Two students were rescued after an Ava school bus got stuck due to flooding.
According to Douglas County Sheriff Chris Degase, an Ava School District bus was crossing the Stewart Creek Bridge on County Road 557 at around 6:45 a.m. Degase said the driver thought the water wasn't deep, but ended up in a hole that had been washed out by heavy rain overnight.
The driver was able to get both students off the bus safely and without injuries, Degase said.
