It was uncomfortably cold across the Ozarks on Wednesday. Many places stayed in the 30's as the winds whipped, making it feel much cooler.
Today, the warmth returns. Temperatures will warm into the mid-to-upper-50s. Winds will still be strong, but they will be in from the south.
Our next chance of rain returns late Friday into Saturday morning. We could see light showers or sprinkles by late Friday afternoon as the rain pushes in from the southwest. The overnight hours will bring widespread rain, as waves of showers move through. Light rain and drizzle will continue into Saturday morning before tapering off by early afternoon. The remainder of the day will remain cloudy east of Hwy. 65.
The rain should be clearing out in time for the Springfield Christmas Parade. A passing shower, or some drizzle could still be possible, so keep an umbrella handy.
Another front will sweep through Monday with a chance for showers and possibly some thunder. Temperatures into early next week will run above normal but will trend chillier through the middle of the week when another storm may move through.
Looking ahead through Christmas, the Canadian pipeline of cold air may set back up for the end of next week before shutting off again in the days leading up to Christmas. There’s no sign of significant winter weather through Christmas and a white Christmas is not expected. The pattern looks quiet and seasonable for Christmas Day.
