Harriett Hay-Henderson, a 102-year-old Springfield native, recently enjoyed a successful fishing trip in Highlandville, reeling in four rainbow trout.
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Age is just a number for Harriett Hay-Henderson, a 102-year-old Springfield native who recently enjoyed a successful fishing trip, reeling in rainbow trout.
Hay-Henderson was born just north of Springfield and has been a resident of the city for most of her life.
She now lives in the Maranatha Village Retirement Community in Springfield.
Her daughter, Denise Hay, also a Springfield native, organized the outing to a trout farm in Highlandville on June 18, 2025.
"She's still mobile, and her mind is sharp as a tack," Denise Hay said of her mother.
Denise tells Ozarks First’s Bailey Strohl her mom reeled in four rainbow trout during the trip.
According to Denise, the centenarian is also known for her adventurous spirit, enjoying rides in her son's convertible, especially when he drives fast.
