WEATHER ALERT: Street, stream, and river flooding in western Massachusetts

CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) - The 22News Storm Team has declared a Weather Alert for street, stream, and river flooding for Friday. Thursday night's heavy rain in our urban areas will increase the potential for street and river flooding on Friday.
Another heavy rain event is on the way in western Massachusetts, with a Flood Watch in effect from 5 a.m. Friday to 8 a.m. Saturday.
Heavy downpours and a few thunderstorms are possible through 9 pm. Otherwise, showers and drizzle continue overnight. Areas of fog are also likely. Steady rain will return between 6-9 am.
Friday's 7 am temperatures will be in the 50s. Steady rain will develop by 9 am. Rain will be heaviest on Friday afternoon. Street and stream flooding is a good bet Friday afternoon and evening. Do not drive through flooded roads. Turn around, don't drown. High temperatures on Friday will be in the mid-50s to 60 degrees.
Rain will taper to showers Friday evening. Most of Mother's Day weekend will be dry.
Rainfall Forecast
Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is possible from Thursday night through Saturday morning. Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Moderate to heavy rains are expected Friday morning through Saturday morning with 2-3 inches of rain possible.
