Wednesday, December 25 forecast: More dreary December weather

Merry Christmas! We hope that it's been a warm & merry Christmas even if that's not been the case outside. The current dreary December stretch began back on Monday and it looks to continue into the weekend.

Christmas Eve's storm left behind damp conditions that can be tough to clear out this time of the year. This led to a round of foggy, misty conditions this morning and more can be expected tonight. A Dense Fog Advisory has been posted for tonight through mid-morning Thursday.

The fog and mist will improve by late Thursday morning, but clouds will stick around through the afternoon. This will keep the temperature range during the day very narrow again with lows in the 40s and highs in the 50s.

The next storm in the pipeline will move through Thursday night into Friday morning, bringing a round of rain Thursday night. The steady rains should be gone by Friday morning, but fog and mist may linger for a time. Some peaks of afternoon sun south of the interstate will contribute to milder temperatures there, but clouds will hang tough along and north of I-44. We'll head into Friday night with another shot at showers with more fog and mist possible to start the weekend.

Weekend weather will come with lingering clouds Saturday. Peaks of afternoon sun are expected and this will drive temperatures higher. Sunday looks even brighter after another round of morning fog.

We'll wind down the year with a shift back to colder weather by New Year's Eve. A storm moving through the area Monday will produce gusty winds with unusually mild temperatures. Little to no rain is expected with the storm, but it will shift the wind direction back to cold.

Look to ring in the new year with cold and quiet weather.
