According to a Facebook post from the Licking Police Department (LPD), at around 2:19 a.m. Monday, an officer tried to make a traffic stop on a southbound blue Chevrolet Trailblazer that crossed into the opposite lane on U.S. Highway 63. The driver, identified as 36-year-old Jacob Kelly, fled the officer on State Highway 32 before deciding to pull over after returning to US 63.

Court documents state that Kelly initially refused to get out of his vehicle and gave a false name to officers before following their commands and was arrested without incident.

While taking inventory on the vehicle, officers found a small bag holding methamphetamine in the passenger, meth on Kelly's pants and the seat of the patrol car, and a large amount of meth on the floorboard of the patrol car near the cage area. Officer measured the total amount of meth at over 280 grams.

Kelly is charged with three felonies: first-degree trafficking of drugs, aggravated fleeing a stop and tampering with physical evidence in a felony prosecution. He also received a misdemeanor charge for failing to drive on the right side of a roadway.
