YRC and Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill to extend hours

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The City of Springfield's Department of Environmental Services are extending their operations to the weekend to clear out debris from storms on Tuesday, April 29.
The city has announced that the Yardwaste Recycling Center (YRC) and the Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill are remaining open on Sunday, May 11 and Monday, May 12 to accommodate for citizen's needs. Both facilities are usually open Tuesday to Saturday, but they are remaining open to help resident's last remaining storm debris.
“Since the April 29 storm, we’ve received more than 22,000 cubic yards of brush at the Yardwaste Recycling Center, and saw nearly 1,000 visitors on Saturday,” Dan Jessen, Solid Waste Superintendent said in a press release. “That’s nearly four times our typical spring Saturday traffic, showing how much our community is stepping up to dispose of their storm debris responsibly.”
The city recommends to take organic storm debris to the YRC and to take larger or commercial-scale debris to the Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill. Both facilities are the only City solid waste facilities that or extending their hours.
The YRC is located at 3790 S. Farm Road 119 in Brookline, Missouri and the Noble Hill Sanitary Landfill is located at 3545 W. Farm Road 34 in Willard, Missouri. Both facilities will be open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
