PITTSBURG, Kan. — A Pittsburg church is showcasing the history of Christmas.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints hosted its Nativity Festival on Saturday.
Organizers say the event provides a chance for the public to view all the different depictions of the nativity, and remember the true meaning of Christmas.
Approximately 300 nativities were displayed for viewing, many of them belonging to members of the church.
Others belong to those from different walks of faith and some even represent foreign countries' beliefs of the nativity scene.
"I love the culture in the different countries, to bring a world view in, because Jesus Christ is for everyone, no matter where you live, and to have other cultures view and their thoughts on Him, it's, it's so warming to know how other people view Jesus Christ and to see how they believe and what they believe," said Holly Maxwell, Nativity Festival Coordinator.
Maxwell hopes to see a mixture of other local churches participate in this event in the future.
This event began back in 2016 - and is held the first weekend of December.
