EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - An Alton, Illinois, man was sentenced on Monday for trafficking methampheamine into Illinois from Missouri in July.
According to the Madison County State Attorney's Office, Cody J. Elfgen, 36, received an 18-year prison sentence for bringing 139 grams of methamphetamine into Illinois on July 16 while in possession of a 9mm handgun and body armor.
During a police search of his residence following his arrest, officers seized $2,641 that Elfgen must additionally forfeit in addition to his prison sentence. Police additionally found three firearms and 50 capsules of fentanyl inside the residence.
Elfgen pleaded guilty to methamphetamine trafficking and unlawful possessions of weapons by a felon before receiving his prison sentence.
