Barnes-Jewish Hospital removes old pedestrian bridge Saturday

ST. LOUIS – A major construction project is happening Saturday morning as the old pedestrian bridge at Barnes-Jewish Hospital is being torn down.

Sections of the bridge were already removed shortly before 6 a.m. Saturday and it’s a step-by-step process.

Workers are removing the glass on the bridge first. They’ll then dismantle steel sections into pieces, which will be carefully lowered to the ground.

If you’re in the area, detours are in place and drivers are being asked to be cautious in that area until the project is complete. Officials expect everything to be finished by Monday a 6 a.m.
