Dallas County holds Christmas donation light parade to support those in need

BUFFALO, Mo. - A colorful night to support multiple non-profits in Dallas County took place Saturday evening during the second annual Side by Side and UTV Christmas Parade.

Nearly 70 side-by-side vehicles came all dressed up for a parade that will help take care of neighbors in need this holiday season.

For the second straight year, those in Dallas County were able to find a unique way to celebrate the holiday season. Riders gathered at Grace Community Church, where pastor Vicki Coons says an event like this is a community effort.

“It's a really cool time to come out at Christmas and come out and see the beautiful lights on the side by side and the people that have taken the time to decorate them,” Coons said. “But also, to support the seniors and the OACAC and the things that make a difference all year round.”

Donations of toys, money, and Christmas cards collected from the ride will benefit organizations such as Toys For Tots, local nursing homes and Bright Beacon Domestic Violence Center -- Dallas County's first and only domestic violence shelter.

“It's been really great with the community support that we've had. We've been able to help everyone who comes into shelter, give them resources that they need and be able to benefit from their time of need,” Director Taylor Pederson said.

The parade lineup was created fully of side-by-side and four-wheelers that riders dressed in festive décor. 11-year-old Annabelle Combs participated in 2023 and says she was excited to return this year.

“It makes me feel good because some people are in need," Combs said. "And if we help, maybe that way they could be happier and have a better Christmas season."

The Buffalo City Christmas parade takes place next Saturday for those looking for more holiday festivities in Dallas County.
