Enfield Rotary's 5K run/walk causes road delays, closures

ENFIELD, Conn. (WWLP) - The Rotary Club of Enfield's "Cinco K Mayo" Charity 5K Run/Walk will take place on Saturday, but multiple road closures are taking place.

The Enfield Police Department states that the race on Saturday will involve several road closures, with no traffic being allowed in the following areas between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m., unless allowed by traffic officers:

  • Moody Road between North Maple and Taylor Road
  • Taylor Road between Somers Road and North Street
  • North Street Between Park Street and Taylor Road
  • Park Street Between North Street and Moody Road

Roadway closures and delays are expected in these areas. Trucks that are accessing Martin Brower on Moody Road might not be allowed during the race. They will be allowed to wait on Moody Road near Fermi High School.

Proceeds from the "Cinco K Mayo" 5K Road Race will benefit the Rotary Club of Enfield Charitable Fund, Inc., which funds community projects like the accessible playground built in 2012, the Enfield Rotary Club Scholarship Foundation which provides scholarships to Juniors and Seniors in college and a scholarship for high school seniors from Enfield High School.

The race will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Moody Road next to the Enfield Town Annex on North Maple Street.
