Flurries are flying as cold returns for Wednesday

Happy Wednesday!

Wednesday will be downright chilly across the Ozarks. However, the good news is, it'll be the coldest day of the next seven.

Wednesday morning has brought snow to the central part of the state. With dry air in place, not much of it is making it to the ground but a few flurries will be possible throughout the morning hours. Viewer Rhonda Burris sent in a picture from Buffalo showing a skiff of snow on her car.

The cold front is working through the area. It will be cold and blustery, with winds gusting up to 30 mph on Wednesday. This will cause a wind chill factor throughout the day. You can expect it to feel like it's in the 20's most of the day. It will stay breezy through Friday.

Friday evening will bring a much-needed chance of rain to the Ozarks. Widespread rain will move in from the southwest and trek to the northeast. Currently, models are showing .50-1.00" of rain likely across the area.

The rain should last through Saturday morning. The rain chance will clear out by Saturday afternoon. This will make for prime conditions for the Springfield Christmas Parade.

Another front will sweep through Monday with a chance for showers. Temperatures this weekend into early next week will run above normal and the general pattern through Christmas will offer up more of the same. Any shots of cold will be quick with temperatures generally above normal.
