JOPLIN, Mo. — There's been a change in plans, regarding the next leader of Freeman Health System.
Freeman officials confirmed earlier today that Tom Keller will not be taking over as president and CEO of the organization.
No official word yet on why Keller is no longer filling the role.
He was appointed to the job back in September, and was scheduled to begin duties yesterday.
Keller had previously been the president and CEO of Ozarks Healthcare in West Plains, Missouri.
Freeman officials say outgoing president and CEO Paula Baker will remain on the job until the position is filled.
Baker has been Freeman's president and CEO for 13 years.
She previously announced her retirement earlier this year.
