NIXA, Mo. — Highway 14 in Nixa has closed following a natural gas leak on Wednesday, July 16.
According to a Nixa Fire District press release, Highway 14 from Main Street West to O'Reilly Auto Parts has closed due to crews striking a major gas line on Wednesday.
Crews have prompted immediate safety measures by closing the road as workers are on the scene working to control and repair the damaged line, the release says.
Spire Gas officials have said the repairs may take several hours and could extend into the evening rush hour.
The release urges motorists to seek alternative routes when traveling to Nixa this evening.
Emergency responders and utility crews are working to coordinate public safety and restore the normal traffic flow as quickly as possible.
The Nixa Fire District says they will post updates as the situation develops.
