O'FALLON, Mo. - The debut of a holiday entertainment celebration in O’Fallon, Missouri, known as "Jingle!" led to a flood of complaints during the first weekend after Thanksgiving.

“We felt robbed,” Jeff Schulze, an O’Fallon resident who visited the display with his family, said.

Complaints from Schulze and others included concerns about safety, an icy surface, and a lack of workers and entertainment.

“Our opening weekend did not go as we had hoped,” Jingle! President Mark McKee said.

The event welcomed back visitors on Thursday, and McKee said improvements have been made. An ice skating trail that was delayed in opening is now open.

Approximately 250 workers have been involved in the creation of the Jingle experience at CarShield Field, according to McKee. Other offerings include light displays, food trucks, snow tubing, story time, and crafts.

“We feel like we’re doing what we can to make this a tradition for families and friends so that they’ll come back every year,” he said.,

Schulze has worked events before and understands some of the challenges, but does not believe Jingle! lived up to its hype.

“It was just a very disappointing experience,” he said.

McKee said, “Our plan is to be here every year for a long time and to continue to improve.”
