JOPLIN, Mo. — A pretty popular farm equipment guru makes his first-ever stop in the Four States.
Greg Peterson, better known as "Machinery Pete," was in Jasper today for a huge farm retirement auction. He was reporting on it, and it will be part of his TV show on YouTube.
He's become quite the sensation because of the internet. His online marketplace for buyers and sellers has been going strong since 2014, but he began researching, tracking, and reporting on auction prices in 1989. And he's a big believer in what any farmer will tell you—the farm community is extremely tight.
"It's the heart of our country. Feedin' the world—very, very, very risky business every year. So, you know, in terms of the equipment they need—what's it worth—buying and selling and trading—I've always hoped our information can help them. So, there's the business aspect, but then there's also people's connection to the equipment. Bottom line, I always love comin' back to Missouri. I'm a Minnesota boy, but you guys in Missouri here are okay. So, it's fun to come back," said Peterson.
The company is headquartered in Chicago. Those interested can learn more about it, as well as Peterson's show, on YouTube, here.
