JOPLIN, Mo. — Missouri Southern will be making some big upgrades to a key building on campus.
The university's Board of Governors has approved spending more than $2 million on the first phase of changes at the Leggett and Platt Athletic Center. It will entail repairs to the roof, which was damaged during the tornado last spring, as well as replacing the bleachers, indoor track, and basketball court inside the 25-year-old facility.
"We'll get to a phase two which includes some of the bells and whistles, you know, to help improve attendee and fan experience—the sound system, updated restrooms, new video boards, things like that," said Rob Mallory, MSSU athletic director.
Construction is scheduled to begin following commencement in May.
