WALNUT SHADE, Mo. — The Taney County Sheriff's Office (TCSO) announced there will be a planned explosion scheduled for Friday.
According to the TCSO Facebook page, a planned controlled explosion is scheduled for December 6 at 7:30 p.m. near the intersection of US-65 and US-160, close to Walnut Shade.
TCSO says all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure public safety and there should be no disruption to traffic during the event.
According to TCSO, the reason behind the explosion is due to an annual birthday party involving Tannerite. In previous years, police were called due to the loud sound but because it's not illegal to set off a Tannerite charge there was nothing they could do. The party planners decided to give the police a warning this year.
"Expect Noise and Vibrations: The explosion may produce loud sounds and vibrations, but it is controlled and monitored," said the TCSO post.
