ST. LOUIS - Jonathan Williams, who serves his community of Cahokia Heights, Illinois, as a police officer and mental health advocate. After he and his academy classmates suffered the loss of one of their own, Jonathan makes it a priority to reach out to the community about mental health awareness!
Prior to being a Cahokia Heights police officer, Jonathan was a juvenile detention officer as well as a social worker and he was one of the first black officers to be hired by the Swansea police department. Even after all of these accomplishments, Jonathan’s pride and joy are his three children!
He was nominated by a community member who tells us:
Jonathan goes above and beyond the call of duty for the Cahokia Heights community and his family. He always steps in to help when needed for anyone even after working a 12 or 16 hour shift. He is a strong mental health advocate and still finds time to attend to his three beautiful children and their school activities.
Jonathan Williams receives $500 from Brown & Brown Law Firm and FOX 2’s Proud to Serve Award. If you would like to nominate a 1st responder, military or veteran, click here.
